Maria is a very attractive, compact Syngonium which branches extensively at the base. The overall colour is dark green with a red to bronze overlay and pinkish-red veins. New leaves look almost solid pink. The stem sports a pinkish-red colour. Great for totems and baskets!
3.5 - 4 inch standard plastic nursery pot.
Although these plants are extremely low-light tolerant, they will grow faster and maintain their vibrant colouring and markings if grown in medium to bright indirect light. Direct sun will scorch their leaves.
They prefer moist soil but not too wet. Less frequent watering is needed in the winter when the air is a little damper. Essentially, if you notice the plant or the surrounding soil looking a little crispy, make sure you give her a drink.
Plant Specific Care
Arrowhead Vines will grow in most household temperatures ranging from 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit. They do not like the temps to drop below 50℉. Keep them away from drafts and doorways during the winter months.
Average household humidity of 40-50% is adequate for these indoor plants, but most houseplants benefit from humidity over 60% if you can provide it.
Arrowhead vines should be fertilized during the growing season with ½ strength complete liquid fert once a month. Or use a slow-release fertilizer or top-dress with worm castings or compost in early spring.
