Plant Size Guide (❔)
Plant & Pot Size Guide

Houseplant Size Guide

By default, all our houseplants come in recyclable nursery pots. Whenever we say 'Plant Size' we are referring to the diameter of the bareroot soil.

Choosing the Right Decorative Pot

When it comes to choosing the right decorative pots, the general rule of thumb is to select pots sized between 0.75 - 1.5 inches more than plant size (diameter). This ensures that the roots have enough room to grow for atleast a few months after which you may need to repot into a bigger pot.

Ivy is one of the most common houseplants around. A classic favorite, she's been loved for generations because she is easy to grow as an indoor plant. Plus, because ivy is a vine, you can grow her in a hanging basket, let her trail over the sides of a pot, or climb to become a living curtain.

Plant Size

4 inch standard plastic nursery pot.

She grows best in dappled light. Too much direct sun, especially strong afternoon sun, can scorch the foliage. But too little light can result in small, dull leaves and lanky, weak stems.

She likes even soil moisture, make sure it is not soggy though as it can cause root rot. During the growing season (spring to fall), water whenever the soil has slightly dried out. Leaf drop and yellowing leaves are both potential signs that tree ivy is being overwatered.

Plant Specific Care

This plant prefers rich, loamy soil with a slightly acidic to neutral soil pH and sharp drainage. A light, all-purpose potting mix is fine for container growth.

Temperature and Humidity
Excessive heat can cause leaf drop and ultimately kill the plant, so it’s important to provide shade and sufficient water to a tree ivy plant in hot climates. T

She also likes a moderate to a high level of humidity. A container plant can be placed on a tray filled with water and pebbles to raise the humidity level around it. Her leaves can turn brown when exposed to dry air for too long.

She is a moderate to heavy feeder. During the growing season, feed her with a houseplant fertilizer, following label instructions. No fertilization is necessary for the winter.
